Sam Adams Summer Ale

image This is one of Sam Adams’ seasonal beers that they only release during certain times of the year.  As the name suggests, you can only purchase this beer in the summer.

As pictured, the beer is a nice amber color, on the lighter side than many of Sam Adams’ other flavors.  It has a light and refreshing taste, much like other summer beers such as Corona or Blue Moon.  I liken it to Blue Moon more than any, except I tasted more hops than the Belgian-style ale has.  I tasted hints of apricot and citrus in this beer.

Typically I don’t care for the Sam Adams beers, except for the seasonal ones.  The Boston Lager I do not care for, although I must admit it has been some time since I have tried that one.  This Summer Ale was quite good, I plan to purchase more and drink it during this hot summer we are having.  If you like summer beers that have a freshing citrus taste, I would recommend this beer.

“An American Wheat, brewed with malted wheat, lemon zest and grains of paradise – a rare pepper from Africa first used as a brewing spice in the 13th Century to create a crisp and spicy flavor and body.”
